Application of BIM and UAV Laser Scanning Technology in Earthwork Quantity Calculation

  • The calculation of earthwork quantity is one of the main contents of highway engineering construction. It is of great significance for the smooth progress of the project to get the accurate and rapid measurement of earthwork quantity. The unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV )laser scanner is used to quickly acquire the original surface point cloud data, and then establish a digital elevation model (DEM), establish a three-dimensional solid model of the whole line through Building Information Modeling(BIM) technology, and then carry out Boolean operations on the aerial survey model and designed model to obtain the filling and excavation engineering entity, and the quantity of earthwork can be calculated. The results show that the earthwork calculation method combining UAV laser scanning technology and BIM technology can quickly obtain the original surface data, improve the efficiency of earthwork calculation, and the calculation accuracy meets the engineering requirements, which has practical application significance.
