Research Summary of Construction Data Digitization and Intelligent Management

  • Construction documents serve as an authentic record throughout the entire lifecycle of engineering projects, directly affecting quality assessment and the efficiency of operation and maintenance. Traditional paper-based document management suffers from insufficient standardization, low data collection efficiency, and poor information collaboration, making it inadequate for modern engineering management needs. Here, the research progress in construction document management is systematically reviewed. Key technologies are analyzed, including building information modeling (BIM) data integration and extraction, collaborative management platforms, intelligent collection and quality control, and electronic signatures with secure storage. Innovative practices such as whole-process management systems and engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) integrated management models are also discussed.The findings indicate that the lack of standardization is the primary obstacle to the digitalization of document management. Among the key technologies, BIM data integration is suitable for design-construction coordination scenarios and can effectively resolve document lag. Collaborative management platforms are appropriate for large and complex projects but present high implementation barriers for small and medium-sized projects. Intelligent collection technology shows significant advantages in real-time recording during construction, yet still has shortcomings in multi-source data fusion. Regarding management models, the whole-process management system is applicable to conventional projects with a high degree of standardization, whereas the EPC-integrated management model is more suitable for complex projects that require multi-stage collaboration.Looking ahead, BIM-driven dynamic document generation is expected to become the core breakthrough direction in the next phase. Collaborative platforms will evolve into project information hubs, and intelligent collection combined with real-time validation will dominate the entire process of document management.
