Research on the Use Conditions of Various Calculation Methods in Seismic Appraisal of Existing Masonry Structures

  • The applicable scope of the comprehensive seismic capacity index method is not clearly specified in the codes, witch may lead to misuse or violation of the mandatory provisions in the standard GB 55023-2009 for seismic appraisal of buildings. Therefore, this paper focuses on the applicable conditions and calculation key points of the comprehensive seismic capacity index method to provide a more accurate seismic appraisal calculation strategy for masonry structures.Starting with the derivation of formulas, the applicable conditions and calculation key points of the comprehensive seismic capacity index method were summarized through the analysis of of theoretical basis and assumptions.Through the comparative analysis of different appraisal methods, the differences in the values of system influence coefficients and local influence coefficients were explored and verified with actual engineering cases. The study shows that there are significant differences in the values of system influence coefficients and local influence coefficients among different appraisal methods. In practical engineering, the appraisal method should be reasonably selected based on factors such as the structural integrity, height and width ratio of the house, weak layer of the house and irregular torsion. In practical engineering, the appraisal method should be reasonably selected based on factors the structural integrity, height and width ratio of the house, weak layer of the house and irregular torsion. This paper provide a more scientific calculation strategy for seismic appraisal of masonry structures, contributing to enhancing the accuracy and reliability of seismic appraisals.
