Analysis of Causes and Control Methods for Temperature Cracks in Large Volume Concrete

  • Due to the large structural dimensions and high cement content of large volume concrete, temperature cracks are prone to occur, which affect the safety and durability of large volume concrete structures. Therefore, how to effectively control the occurrence and development of temperature cracks has become an important research topic. Factors such as cement hydration heat, environmental temperature changes, concrete characteristics, and structural constraints can all lead to the occurrence of temperature cracks. The commonly used temperature control technologies for large volume concrete mainly include raw material selection, construction technology, and temperature control. Due to the complex construction process and high engineering cost of traditional temperature control methods, adding fibers, using phase change materials or intelligent temperature control technology have become new methods for temperature crack control. However, the application of new methods still needs further exploration and optimization.
