Analysis of Vibration Response in High-rise Buildings Induced by Subway Operation

  • With the acceleration of urbanization and the rapid expansion of subway transportation systems, the issue of vibrations in surrounding buildings caused by subway train loads has received increasing attention. This study investigates the vibration response of super high-rise buildings due to subway operation, using a combination of on-site monitoring and a three-dimensional numerical model. The analysis is based on a residential building project in Nansha, Guangzhou. The results indicate that the vibration is most pronounced in the basement and gradually diminishes with increasing floor height. Additionally, the building's vibration response is most significant in the low-frequency range and shows a strong correlation with the structural natural frequency. To effectively control and reduce the impact of subway train loads on super high-rise buildings, it is recommended to optimize foundation forms and structural designs during architectural and subway planning, and to implement vibration monitoring and control measures to ensure the safety of the building structure and the comfort of residents.
