Optimization Analysis on Seismic Isolation Structure Design of a Middle School Building in a High Intensity Zone

  • Applying seismic isolation technology to enhance the seismic performance of important public buildings such as middle schools in high-intensity areas is not only a national policy direction but also an inevitable requirement of technological development. The architectural style combining the main building and the podium is prevalent in middle school projects, and its seismic isolation design has its own uniqueness. Under the premise of ensuring the overall seismic isolation effect, reasonably handling the relationship between the podium and the tower is a crucial aspect of applying seismic isolation technology to such hybrid structures. Therefore, based on the large-span podium middle school project in high-intensity areas, this study aims to enhance building resilience through seismic isolation technology. It aims to investigate the application feasibility of joint separation measures for multiple structural forms (podium frame + tower shear wall) and utilize BIM technology to achieve optimized design of seismic isolation structures. The results indicate that when there is a significant difference between the podium and tower structural systems, the use of joint measures can reduce the mutual influence of different structural systems and adjust the stress distribution of seismic isolation components. By taking corresponding measures for isolation structures with significant system differences, the structural stress performance can be improved, achieving the goal of optimizing isolation structures. This engineering case study can provide reference for the structural seismic isolation design of similar buildings, in order to promote the further development and innovation of seismic isolation technology applications.
