Study on Vibration Safety of Adjacent High-rise Buildings Induced by Subway Blasting Excavation

  • High-rise and super-high-rise buildings in urban areas are highly sensitive to ground vibrations induced by subway construction blasting. Scientifically evaluating and controlling the safety impacts of such vibrations represents a critical technical challenge that must be addressed to ensure the safety of adjacent existing structures. Based on the blasting excavation at Exit 2 of Chongqing Metro's Shibati Station, this study employed GTS/NX numerical simulation software. After validating the model's reliability through comparison with field data, it analyzed the vibration safety of two buildings at special locations (the tallest building and the one with the smallest horizontal blast center distance) during on-site blasting. To address the universal quantitative assessment of vibration impacts from blasting operations along the entire line, this study innovatively derived a critical relationship between the blast epicenter distance (R) and building height (H) under the permissible vibration velocity threshold for blasting safety. This relationship was systematically applied to evaluate the vibration safety of all adjacent building points along the route. Results indicate that under existing single-charge quantity controls, blasting vibrations at Entrance/Exit 2 meet vibration safety standards for all adjacent structures (including super high-rise buildings). The numerical analysis and critical relationship formula established in this study provide effective reference for refined prediction and safety control of blasting vibrations near critical structures in complex urban environments.
